Indonesia celebrates the ceasefire agreement and confirms its participation in the reconstruction of Gaza policy

Jakarta- Indonesia witnessed many events celebrating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and hundreds of Indonesians gathered in front of the US embassy in Jakarta after noon on Friday afternoon to salute the resistance of the Palestinian people and their sacrifices in Gaza and to celebrate the agreement.

Activities will continue over the next two days by more than one body and entity interested in Palestinian affairs.

Representatives of many bodies and organizations stressed the necessity of monitoring the implementation of the agreement, and saving the people of Gaza from their difficult humanitarian conditions by opening the crossings and delivering humanitarian aid and what the Gaza community needs.

Speakers during the rally stressed the need to prosecute those involved in the genocide to which the people of Gaza were subjected over the past 15 months, and called for official and popular participation in the reconstruction of the Strip.

The Foreign Minister considered that the next important step is to ensure the immediate and comprehensive implementation of the agreement to prevent the number of victims from increasing.

Sugiono hopes that the ceasefire will constitute an impetus to promote peace in Palestine.

He stressed that peace will not be possible unless Palestine is independent and sovereign, in accordance with the two-state solution agreed upon by the international community.

“Indonesia is ready to contribute to the efforts aimed at restoring social life in Gaza, whether through humanitarian aid, supporting the role of UNRWA, or Gaza reconstruction efforts,” he said.

Key roles

For his part, Anis Matta, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister for Islamic World Affairs, said in an interview with Al Jazeera Net that the government of Indonesia, led by President Prabowo Subianto, supports the ceasefire agreement in Palestine, which was brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the United States, to end the war that lasted 15 months, in which a number of people were exterminated. A large number of children, women and men from Palestine, and Gaza in particular.

If the agreement is actually implemented, the international community must play three main roles that the speaker identified in:

• Do not forget the genocide committed by the Israeli government against the people of Palestine, especially Gaza, referring to the decision of the International Criminal Court, and called on the international community to monitor its decisions so that the perpetrators of genocide do not escape just and deterrent punishment.

Reconstruction

Matta said that Indonesia will continue to support Palestine until it achieves its independence, and will participate in the reconstruction of Gaza, as a government and a people, and that the Indonesian Foreign Ministry is currently coordinating all charitable work with non-governmental organizations in Indonesia working for Palestine.

He added that coordination also includes some Southeast Asian countries, such as Malaysia, to carry out joint work in helping Palestine, whether in humanitarian work or in the field of development and reconstruction of Gaza, especially since Malaysia is chairing the ASEAN session this year.
