Russian users sue Apple after withdrawing electronic payment services
A Russian law firm said it has filed a lawsuit against US tech giant Apple seeking defense compensation of 90 million rubles ($1.28 million) to consumers affected by Apple’s withdrawal of its payment service from Russia. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Law firm Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners said Apple infringed on the rights to the Russian app after the company imposed restrictions on the use of built-in Apple Pay on March 1 in response to Moscow’s dispatch to Ukraine.
Apple Pay has resumed.
The total number may rise as the law firm still has more claimants to join the lawsuit, and principal partner Konstantin Lukoyanov said Apple’s main U.S. firm for sale in Apple’s sales is restricting services provided in Russia.
