Facebook is testing Discord-like channels in groups

This change is one of several updates that the social network is also testing shared on some other sites, which are basically subgroups within each Facebook group, where members can discuss specific topics, there are community chat channels and certain threads on topics related to a particular group; Add to feed channels, which are email-based spaces in the group.

Facebook, too, is testing a new offering, which will make Groups more prominent in its app (and has custom shortcuts for retail), and for now all of those offerings are about tests that were only available in a small group of people, but the company intends to roll out the changes more broadly over time.
