Shooting inside a camp in Japan.. and reports of deaths

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported on Wednesday that a number of Self-Defense Forces personnel may have been killed in a shooting accident at a military shooting range in Gifu Prefecture, central Japan.


The authority quoted unnamed sources as saying that a person fired a gun and at least three were wounded. It stated that the level of their injuries is unknown.

It added that there were no reports of civilian casualties.

Rare accidents

Shootings are extremely rare in Japan, where gun ownership is strictly regulated and anyone seeking to own a gun must pass a rigorous process.
