We will stop security coordination with Israel

Today, Monday, the Palestinian presidency announced that the authority would completely stop security coordination with Israel, in response to the massive military operation in Jenin camp, which resulted in at least 9 deaths and dozens of injuries.

‘A very dangerous escalation’

On the other hand, Tor Winsland, the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said today, Monday, that the current escalation in the West Bank is “very dangerous,” adding that he is in direct contact with all concerned parties to calm the situation.

“The current escalation in the occupied West Bank is very dangerous, and comes after months of escalating tension,” he said on Twitter.

He added that the tension “reminds us once again of the extremely volatile and unstable situation across the occupied West Bank. Everyone must ensure the protection of the civilian population.”


“Direct contact with all parties”

The UN coordinator added that “from the very beginning, I was in direct contact with all concerned parties in order to urgently de-escalate the situation and ensure that humanitarian aid, medical and other necessary supplies reach Jenin.”

In addition, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today that nine Palestinians were killed and 28 others were wounded, including eight seriously, as a result of the Israeli military operation that began on the city of Jenin and its camp, as well as in shooting in the city of Al-Bireh.

The ministry added that among the dead, three were killed as a result of the bombing, while the death toll is expected to rise due to the presence of critical injuries.
