Solidarity stands with Gaddafi’s son, who is detained in Lebanon

This move came after news of his health deteriorating weeks after he entered the hospital hunger strikein protest against what he considers “arbitrary and political arrest” and denouncing the procrastination in resolving his case and his exposure to injustice, against the background of his accusation of involvement in the kidnapping of Shiite cleric Musa al-Sadr in 1978 in the capital, Tripoli.

In turn, a member of the Supreme Council of Tribes and one of the participants in the stand, Ashraf Abdel Fattah, revealed that this stand will not be the first and will be followed by other movements inside and outside Libya and in front of the Lebanese embassies and the headquarters of the UN mission, in order to demand the release of Hannibal Gaddafi.

Meanwhile, the case of Hannibal Gaddafi is still without a judicial settlement, despite the attempts of several Libyan parties to intervene in order to obtain his release, and despite the negotiations that took place between his defense team and the committee in charge of the al-Sadr case.

The Libyan Presidential Council had announced the formation of a committee headed by Minister of Justice Halima al-Busaifi to follow up on this file. It also ordered the formation of a defense committee to undertake legal follow-up before all Lebanese authorities and courts to ensure a fair trial. The results of its work have not yet been announced.
