Tomorrow we will discuss Ukraine’s accession to the alliance, and the Kremlin warns of “negative repercussions.”

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltberg confirmed, on Monday, that the alliance summit scheduled for tomorrow will take a decision to expand military support to Ukraine and bring it closer to NATO membership, while the Kremlin warned that Ukraine’s accession to NATO would have “very negative” repercussions on European security.

Stoltenberg stressed, during a press conference with the Lithuanian president, that NATO will defend every inch of the territory of the member states.

He also stressed that the NATO summit will discuss the course of Ukraine’s accession, and pointed out that Ukrainian President Zelensky will join the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting.

This comes as the Kremlin announced, on Monday, that Ukraine’s acquisition of NATO membership will have “very negative” repercussions on European security, ahead of a NATO summit to be held in Vilnius this week.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Ukraine’s membership in NATO will have very negative repercussions for the entire security structure in Europe.” He added that it would also constitute an “absolute danger, a threat to our country” that would require a “serious response”.
