Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure of NATO countries to take specific decisions regarding the timing of Kiev’s invitation to the alliance during the summit held in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.
Zelensky criticizes
Zelensky wrote on the Telegram application: “And on our way to Vilnius we received signals about their discussion of the formula without Ukraine. I want to emphasize: this formula is about invitation only, not about membership of Ukraine. Ukraine, and when adding a strange formulation about the existence of “conditions” for inviting Ukraine, it is like not being willing to invite Ukraine to NATO, or to grant it membership in the alliance.

Zelensky’s statements were preceded by the announcement by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg that the NATO leaders presented, during their summit in Vilnius, a comprehensive defense plan to confront Russia, indicating that the NATO leaders did not set a timetable for Ukraine’s accession.
Two day summit
Stoltenberg told reporters that NATO leaders had agreed to invite Ukraine to join the bloc when “conditions are met.”
It is noteworthy that the leaders of the alliance began, on Tuesday, a summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, which will continue until Wednesday, in order to send a message of support to Ukraine, which continues a difficult counterattack against Moscow and is awaiting commitments regarding future membership in the alliance.
