The Joint Chiefs of Staff condemned the launch as a “major act of provocation” and a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

“We are analyzing the details, but we estimate that they fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, east of the Korean Peninsula,” she said in a tweet.

The launch of the two missiles is part of a series of missile tests by Pyongyang at a time when South Korea and the United States have strengthened their defense cooperation with the escalation of tensions between Seoul and Pyongyang.

Seoul and Washington strengthened their defense cooperation in response, especially by organizing joint military exercises using the most advanced air and strategic weapons.
